Venom

Venom of verdigris
Vexing and verdantly
Violence made verbally
Drains vampirically

Feeding of lost vivacity
It siphons vigor
With unmeasured tenacity

Its scales shield not
From rend and rot.
A maw of ravening hungering

Spraying sulfuric serum
Like brimstone irridium
Knowing only death and decay
Sustaining life by taking away

Nascent in morality
Caring only for self
the face of brutality

Only a matter of convenience
is right and wrong
Self takes supervenience

Day after day
Decay chips away
at vivacity and hardened scutes
acid-y selfish ego rendered moot

As mandibular ligaments
Inject thanatos
To consular figments
and create morose

Stretching wider
to fulfill its desires
Unawares of the divider
Of frying pan and fire

Pyres of viscera ecru
Conflagrate and Immolate
Scales of untruth

Fallout peels back
Epidermal membranes
As the flesh scarred black
Replaced with platelet filled grains

Interdependence
Now shown with a vengeance
The effect of spittle
That disputatiously whittled
Predator as well as prey

Though only through affliction
Could they find benediction
And as scabs slough from skin
Melting away intrinsic concerns from within

Outwardly focused locus of hide
To shield those without
And defend all those outside
