Affection

Alone she sailed in a sea of doubt

Searching for answers within and without

For every time she sought harbour

The answered fled and scarpered

As she floated adrift at sea

Many a sailor desired she

Oft drowning in the sea of doubt

They sought her affection to carry them out

All their affections

Had weighed her down

All the connections

Had served to tie her down

The anticipated reciprocation

Which inherently denied her volition

Was an unstated obligation

Now presently aware to her cognition

Ropes thrown to aft

Anchors tied to the mast

Carrying in tow rafts

Accumulating fast

Court and court

They did with fervor and fire

Not aware that she had yet to sort

With certainty, her desire

So she sailed and sailed

On through endless nights

And even though she might have failed and failed

One day, she'd get it right
