I am the Watcher
I watch her
Observing all from afar
At my own insistence
I keep my distance
From outside the planets, moon and stars
With a comma, space an ellipse... a pause
Distance placed so effects don't eclipse their causes
Prepositions mean little
Time and space can be riddled
With words insignificant
As away and across and omnipotent
For all of my wisdom and wherewithal
I, at times, cannot bear it all
So close and yet so far
Planets crushed by blotted out stars
Erased, effaced, waste graced til final
The dents in the wax are what make the vinyl
A tapestry of galaxies, anatomy
Hapless, thee, to change to embroidery
Clock, I, order thee to do as we have always done
Be
And so it was is and always will
Running its course
Ne'er I distort
The wheels, cogs and springs of time
Turning, churning, and flowing in line
All must I watch
Ne'er must I speak
Heeding the oath, I, maker of the watch
Though my watch be sought
I ought never seek.
How can one seek
When none can hide
I watch like a hawk o'er a peek
To the waning of the tides
My half-life must not be qualified
Fractions fail to qualify
An existence outside space-time
Beyond the cosmos I stride
To and fro, come and go
I,infinity personified
Like the gears of the chronometer
Immutably instantiated, is I
Crust bursting forth
Rust first in force
Must thrust one into a dusty metaphor
Perish the thought
Of all not as part
I keep as I ought
Distanced from my art
All things
Living, inert, shall make fusion
A spark
Like all I have spied
with my watchglass eye
from the Universe's start,
Will come to pass
Just as they start
Parts as all
All of parts
The sea's tide ticks and then waves part
